The Accountable Synthetic Intelligence Lab (RAIL) beneath the School of Engineering on the Kwame Nkrumah College of Science and Know-how (KNUST) has commissioned the Dormaa Senior High School Chapter of the RAIL Robotics Initiative for Senior High Faculties.

In his welcome handle, Mr Henry Oppong, the Assistant Headmaster, stated that in an period the place robots are closely deployed throughout all sectors of human lives, organising coaching programmes to provide publicity to future leaders is welcoming information.  He stated the significance of such a membership, whose main purpose is to arrange college students for the world of robots and synthetic intelligence, needs to be emphasised.

“Our earnest hope is to see the club well-resourced and practical-oriented to make it easier for all students to participate in the training,” he intimated.

Prof. Jerry John Kponyo, PI and Scientific Director, RAIL, gave an outline of the RAIL challenge and stated it seeks to be a primary step in establishing a sustainable method to nurturing native expertise. He stated the challenge engages in multidisciplinary, accountable AI for analysis improvement and innovation. He added that by means of analysis initiatives, workshops, and brief programs, RAIL seeks to supply college students with the required expertise and data concerning AI-related points.

Over 400 college students had been launched to the fundamentals of synthetic intelligence, machine studying, accountable AI, and the moral use of AI by Dr Henry Nunoo-Mensah, Programmes Coordinator, RAIL. Dr Nunoo-Mensah touched on why AI options have to be accountable. “AI solutions should be delivered with integrity, equity, respecting individuals, and always being mindful of social impact,” he stated.

The RAIL workforce seized the chance to reveal the scholars to the assorted programmes supplied by KNUST and the admission necessities. The Girls in Know-how Officer, Dr Mrs Eunice Akyereko Adjei, shared her private expertise and inspired the scholars to try to be their finest variations.

The RAIL Robotics Club was inaugurated by the Partnership coordinator, Dr Eric Tutu Tchao, which kicked off the session and demonstration of AI and Robotics.

A workshop session was held for the tutors to debate the modalities of the membership and the following steps. It was established {that a} expertise hub could be created to coach college students in digital expertise, AI, the Web of Issues (IoT) and Robotics. Additionally, coding clinics and machine studying workshops can be organised for tutors and college students of the membership to construct their capabilities to contest in AI competitions.
