Pacific Northwest grocery retailer chain Metropolitan Market has teamed with retail automation supplier Focal Methods on the deployment of the Focal Methods Working System (FocalOS) to digitize and automate the meals retailer by way of optimized ordering, stock administration, merchandising and in-store labor, with the objective of enhancing the general buyer expertise.

The pilot will contain the implementation of tons of of tiny, cheap cameras that digitize cabinets hourly with what Focal Methods calls “the most accurate computer vision on the market.” FocalOS will then use that information to automate many in-store processes, amongst them correct just-in-time ordering, automated hourly scans as a substitute of the handbook every day out-of-stock scan, improved product availability for purchasers by means of the upper productiveness of replenishment employees, and lowered meals waste with higher produce ordering.
